Kuala Lumpur:The Health Ministry has been allocated RM47.7 billion as part of Budget 2027, which was presented in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the government's commitment to resolving the contract doctor issue. Since 2023, the MADANI Government has appointed more than 15,000 contract doctors to permanent positions, including 4,000 this year.
For the year 2027, over 9,000 contract doctors will be offered permanent posts. Doctors who complete their housemanship will then be offered permanent medical officer roles, as stated during the budget presentation themed 'Reaching for the Sky, Rooted in the Ground.'
In addition, Anwar highlighted the government's acknowledgment of the efforts of 47,000 paramedics and nurses. To recognize their contributions, the Pos Basic Incentive Payment will be increased from RM100 to RM200, and the Air Health Service Incentive Payment will rise from RM30 to RM100.
