Yong Peng:Sixteen-year-old Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, who tragically lost her life in a school incident, was laid to rest at the Kampung Parit Arshad Muslim Cemetery at approximately 7:50 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, her body was earlier taken to her grandmother's house in Kampung Parit Selamat, Yong Peng, around 6:30 pm, after a post-mortem at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital.

More than 100 people, including family members, friends, teachers, and locals, gathered at the cemetery to bid their final farewells. Irene Sofiya was discovered unconscious and severely injured in a school hall in Yong Peng at around 5:50 pm the previous day.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad reported that she suffered multiple injuries to her head and body, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old boy was apprehended in Yong Peng at about 7 pm on the same day and is being held in custody for six days until October 9 as investigations continue.

The police are treating the case as a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, with the motive and circumstances still under scrutiny.
