Bukit changkat asa: A teenage girl who was believed to have lost her way while hiking at Bukit Changkat Asa here four days ago was found dead by rescuers today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that the body of Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, 19, was discovered off the hiking trail by the search and rescue (SAR) team at about 11:59 am. The victim was located approximately 500 meters from the last known location where she was seen and one kilometer from the incident control post.
'The SAR team took about 20 minutes to bring the body to the control post using a stretcher,' Ahmad Mukhlis told Bernama at the control post. He added that the body was handed over to the police before being transported to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital.
The SAR operation, which resumed at 8 am today after being suspended at 6:30 pm yesterday, involved various security agencies. Nur Izzati Humaira reportedly lost her way at about 10:50 am last Saturday while descending the hill with her family after deciding to walk ahead alone due to feeling hot and tired.
The case garnered widespread attention on social media and in the news over the past few days, with many netizens expressing concern and offering prayers for the teenager's safe return during the SAR operation.
Ahmad Mukhlis further mentioned that the victim was found by the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM) in a flat area, lying on her back with no visible signs of injury. The body was intact, with no indications of attacks by wild animals.
'As Nur Izzati Humaira was wearing long-sleeved clothing at the time of the incident, there were no obvious signs of physical injury visible externally,' he noted. The victim was found about six meters from a trail leading to an orchard area, which was not part of the designated hiking route on the hill. Ahmad Mukhlis suggested that the teenager might have strayed from the original trail and entered the route before losing her way.
