Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the growing importance of teachers in today's complex world, particularly in shaping a generation grounded in strong moral character and human values. He outlined that the responsibilities of teachers extend beyond imparting knowledge to include fostering confidence, upholding human dignity, and instilling hope and aspirations in students' lives.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted teachers' critical role in nation-building, shaping the character, values, and civilization of the country. He noted that as global challenges become more intricate, teachers' involvement in blending knowledge with human values becomes increasingly vital, in alignment with the MADANI vision. Anwar stressed that development without values and ethics would merely result in aimless progress.
Reflecting on his past, the Prime Minister recalled his teaching experience when he founded Yayasan Anda Akademik in the early 1970s. This experience, he said, deepened his understanding of the challenges faced by youths from low-income families and school dropouts, many of whom faced an uncertain future. Anwar expressed that this period taught him the broader role of teachers in building confidence, upholding dignity, and inspiring hope and ambition in life.
In his message, Anwar also conveyed gratitude to educators for their unwavering service, sacrifice, and dedication as the backbone of nation-building. He wished for all educators to be blessed with strength, resilience, and determination in their mission to educate the nation towards a more advanced, prosperous, and sustainable Malaysia.
