Selangor: Police have identified an individual believed to be linked to the case of a Malaysian pilot suspected of smuggling ecstasy through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia. Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan announced that the individual, who works among the staff on duty at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), will soon be called in to record his statement.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the individual is involved in screening operations at KLIA, and authorities plan to question him, with the possibility of an arrest if deemed necessary. Datuk Hussein Omar Khan shared these details during a media conference held at the Selangor NCID. Initial investigations suggest that the suspect procured the drugs from an apartment in Ampang, and current investigations are focusing on various aspects, including security protocols at the airport entrance.

Further findings revealed that the suspect arrived at KLIA in the morning, checked in a luggage containing the drugs, and left it at the airport. Subsequently, he flew to Kota Kinabalu before returning to Kuala Lumpur and departing for Jakarta with the implicated luggage. Hussein stated that his team is currently awaiting information from the Indonesian Republic Police (POLRI) to facilitate the movement of officers to Indonesia for an interview session.

Earlier reports indicated that a 39-year-old pilot was detained by Indonesian authorities at Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, after allegedly attempting to smuggle 25 kilograms of drugs. According to POLRI, inspection results revealed 15 packages containing a total of 70,114 ecstasy and methamphetamine capsules, with an estimated value of about RM45 million based on Indonesian market prices.
