Ipoh:Sunway Ipoh Mall has successfully leased 80% of its retail space before its anticipated opening in the fourth quarter of 2027, unveiling 25 key brands and concepts for the RM1 billion development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sunway Malls Group managing director HC Chan highlighted the robust leasing commitment as indicative of the demand for quality Tier 1 retail space in Perak, a region he considers underserved. Chan expressed confidence in the mall's potential, drawing parallels with the performance of Sunway Carnival Mall, which achieved higher sales per square meter in 2026 than Sunway Pyramid.
Chan noted that Perak lacks a Tier 1 shopping mall to cater to its population, with market research revealing that many residents travel to the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur for shopping. He emphasized Sunway's intention to serve the local community and expressed optimism that the mall would achieve full occupancy by its opening.
Located within Sunway City Ipoh, Sunway Ipoh Mall will offer a net lettable area of 1.2 million square feet across four retail floors, accommodating approximately 400 outlets. Among the 25 brands unveiled, seven will serve as anchor tenants, and nine will make their debut in Perak. The anchor tenants include Parkson Elite, Village Grocer, TGV Cinemas, Mr D.I.Y. Plus, Sunway Ice Rink, Sunway Ipoh Exhibition Centre, and Sunway Megalanes.
Additional brands joining the mall are MUJI, LC Waikiki, TopTen10, Brands Outlet, Decathlon, Estée Lauder Companies, Harvey Norman, HOOGA, JD Sports, L'Oréal Group, MAP Active, Neonest, Padini, Panda Eyes, Popular, The Parenthood, Valiram Group, and UNIQLO.
Serving a catchment area of about 2.5 million people across Perak, the development will introduce the region's first ice-skating rink, a 36-lane bowling center, multipurpose sports facilities, an exhibition center, and a 10-hall cinema with around 1,500 seats. It will also feature the Gourmet Garden, offering indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and provide 2,950 parking bays, including 100 EV charging bays.
Chan mentioned that discussions are underway for dedicated public transport and shuttle services to enhance connectivity to the mall. Sunway Ipoh Mall is part of the larger 1,350-acre Sunway City Ipoh integrated township, which includes attractions like the Lost World of Tambun, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat, Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh, and Sunway College Ipoh.
