STR Recipients Aged 40 and Above Encouraged to Use PeKa Sihat Initiative

Kulai:Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients aged 40 and above are being encouraged to take full advantage of the PeKa Sihat initiative, which offers a range of free health screenings and treatments beginning next year, supported by an RM80 million government allocation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching stated that this group, along with their spouses, automatically qualifies for the benefits without the need for a complicated registration process. Eligibility can be easily verified through the official PeKa Sihat website by entering identity card numbers to access a list of participating private clinics.

The initiative provides free health screenings at private clinics to detect conditions such as diabetes and high cholesterol, aiming to reduce congestion at government health facilities. Additionally, PeKa Sihat offers medical equipment aid of up to RM20,000 for items like heart stents, artificial joints, hearing aids, pacemakers, and intraocular lenses for cataract surgery. A special RM1,000 incentive is also available for cancer patients to complete their treatment, along with a hospital transport allowance.

Administered by ProtectHealth, PeKa Sihat is a government healthcare initiative designed to encourage eligible Malaysians to undergo health screenings and identify health risks early. As of September 2026, 2.1 million Malaysians have participated in health screenings under the program. In 2025 alone, 328,302 individuals were screened, with 44.5 percent discovering at least one previously undetected health issue.

In relation to today's event, Teo mentioned that approximately RM100,000 in aid has been distributed in the Kulai parliamentary constituency for this year's Deepavali celebration. This was achieved through collaboration with local temples and welfare associations to help alleviate the financial burden on the community in preparation for the festival.
