Stability and Unity Key to Sarawak’s Continued Progress: Fadillah

Kuala lumpur: Stability, sustainable leadership planning, and the unity of its people are the strengths that will enable Sarawak to continue moving forward despite the global economic uncertainties, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He highlighted that the state's success in energy development, green economy, and public well-being stems from the collective efforts of all communities, regardless of their backgrounds.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, emphasized that the spirit of "segulai sejalai" (togetherness), mutual respect, and cooperation has been crucial in Sarawak's progress and recognition as a model of stability, togetherness, and unity among the people in the country. He conveyed this message in a Gawai Day message posted on Facebook.

Fadillah noted that Gawai Day, celebrated on June 1 and 2 every year, is more than just a symbol of gratitude for a successful harvest. It is also a unique cultural heritage and identity that fortifies the family spirit within the Dayak community. The celebration symbolizes the unity of the various races and religions in Sarawak, which has long been the foundation of the state's harmony and contributes to strengthening Malaysia's national identity.

He expressed hope that this year's Gawai celebration would continue to unite the people in the spirit of "Segulai Sejalai," aiming for a more progressive, prosperous, sustainable, and harmonious future for generations to come. Fadillah concluded his message with well-wishes for the Gawai Day celebration, saying, "Happy Gawai Day, Gayu Guru, Gerai Nyamai, Lantang Senang Nguan Menua."
