Aerotrain Service at KLIA Terminal 1 to Resume 24-Hour Operations From June 1

Kuala lumpur: The Aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 is set to resume full 24-hour operations starting midnight on June 1, as announced by Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook. This decision comes after the successful completion of a Comprehensive Action Plan (CAP).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the CAP, which has been in effect since November 2025, was executed in collaboration with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and validated by independent railway assessors. The plan involved three structured stages: inspection and rectification works, system testing and validation, and trial operations.

Transport Minister Loke shared that the Aerotrain underwent endurance testing for 24-hour and 48-hour periods, accommodating both passenger and non-passenger conditions. Since January 2026, the Aerotrain has achieved 100 percent Operational Service Availability, marking a significant milestone in its operational capabilities.

Loke also mentioned that from 12 am to 5 am, daily engineering hours will continue to be observed. During this period, a single train will remain operational to serve passengers, ensuring that routine inspection and maintenance works are conducted without disrupting service.

To maintain the service standards set by the CAP, the Ministry of Transport, through APAD, will sustain its regulatory oversight of the Aerotrain's operations. Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports will remain responsible for ensuring the adherence to these standards.
