SRAM Sets Gold Medal Goals for Sivasangari and Eain Yow at 2026 Asian Games

Kuala lumpur: The Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) has announced its ambitious target for its top athletes, S. Sivasangari and Ng Eain Yow, aiming for them to defend their gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. This target is set with a strategic goal of qualifying the athletes for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, SRAM's president, Gerard Monteiro, emphasized the importance of the gold medal win, noting that the Asian Games gold medallists will secure a spot in the Olympics. He highlighted Sivasangari's current world ranking at number six and expressed hopes for her to break into the top four soon. Monteiro also mentioned that Eain Yow, who is just outside the top 10, is working diligently on improving his game to re-enter the top 10 rankings in the near future.

Monteiro further revealed that SRAM is planning an overseas training camp scheduled for August as part of their preparation for the Asian Games. Additionally, the association is contemplating expanding the coaching team to bolster the national squad's performance at the prestigious quadrennial event.

In the previous edition of the Asian Games held in 2022 in Hangzhou, Malaysia achieved significant success, bringing home three gold medals. These victories came through Eain Yow in the men's singles, Sivasangari in the women's singles, and the women's team, which included Sivasangari, Rachel Arnold, Aifa Azman, and Aira Azman.
