Kulai: The owner of a Singapore-registered vehicle, who was allegedly caught altering his car's registration number while filling up with RON95 fuel in Kulai, is set to face charges tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kulai district police chief ACP Tan Seng Lee announced that the 63-year-old man will be charged at the Kulai Magistrate's Court under Section 108(3)(e) of the Road Transport Act 1987. This section of the Act criminalizes the use of a motor vehicle with an altered, covered, or obscured registration number plate.

The incident gained public attention when a one-minute-and-30-second video went viral on social media. The video showed the owner of a silver Volkswagen Jetta with Singapore registration plates purchasing RON95 fuel at a petrol station in Kulai. Following this, the Kulai Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department received a report regarding the viral video on January 4 at approximately 5 pm.

Police investigations revealed that the vehicle's registration number had been altered, and it was confirmed that the owner, who was also driving the vehicle at the time, is a permanent resident of Singapore.
