Special Officers Appointed to Enhance Government Administration in Perak

Perak: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad announced the appointment of Special Officers to the Menteri Besar in 26 constituencies represented by the opposition, aimed at streamlining the responsibilities of the state government’s administration.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saarani addressed concerns from the opposition, emphasizing that the appointments were not intended to undermine the roles of state assemblymen. He noted that similar practices have been employed in opposition-governed states, where coordinators are appointed to facilitate communication between government agencies and the state representatives.

Saarani elaborated that these Special Officers serve as government representatives, ensuring that district offices and other agencies have a direct link to government operations without involving political party division heads. This move is intended to simplify the process of inviting government representatives to official functions and strengthen administrative efficiency.

The Menteri Besar made these remarks during a press conference following the launch of the Aid Presentation Ceremony for Perak Sejahtera Card Programme Recipients at the Banquet Hall, Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan. He responded to allegations from Kenering assemblyman Husairi Ariffin, who questioned the necessity of appointing special officers in opposition constituencies.

In response to Husairi’s concerns, Saarani reassured that elected representatives should not be apprehensive unless they feel challenged by the effective service provided by the appointed Special Officers.
