PKR Election Preparations Progressing Smoothly: Dr Fuziah Salleh

Kuala Lumpur: Preparations for the entire PKR election process, which will be conducted in stages from April to May, are progressing smoothly, according to PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh. She confirmed that the arrangements are on track and reiterated the stance of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who supports giving the leadership autonomy to decide whether the positions of president and deputy president will be contested in the upcoming elections in May.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Fuziah emphasized the democratic nature of the party, stating that they are awaiting motions and suggestions from the grassroots to determine if these top positions will be contested. She clarified that her role is not to make these decisions but to ensure that the election system and congress operate seamlessly. Dr Fuziah shared these remarks during a press conference after attending Ops Kita Gempur.

Previously, the media reported that PKR decided to hold elections for the Central Leadership Council, Central Women’s Leadership Council, and Central Justice Youth Leadership Council for the 2025-2028 session on May 24. Additionally, elections for positions at the Branch, Wanita Branch, and Angkatan Muda Keadilan Branch are scheduled from April 11 to 20.

On February 1, PKR International Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin mentioned that the proposal not to contest the two top positions was based on several views from the internal negotiation process held previously.
