Melaka:The Election Commission (EC) has announced a special meeting on October 7 to discuss arrangements for the 16th Melaka state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, EC Secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus stated that the meeting is a consequence of the recent dissolution of the Melaka State Assembly. The session will be presided over by EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.

Topics to be covered during the meeting include setting key dates for the election, such as the writ of election, nomination day, and polling day, as well as the electoral roll and other election preparations. Following the meeting, a press conference will be held to address these matters.

The dissolution of the State Assembly was announced last Tuesday by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh after receiving approval from Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
