Six Illegal Jetties Identified In Rantau Panjang Over Concertina Wire Cutting

Rantau panjang: Police have identified six illegal jetties in Rantau Panjang where concertina wire was cut between January and August, linked to smuggling and cross-border activities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that the illegal jetties involved are located at Kak Mah, Abe Li Posmen, Salleh, Pok Mat Lubok Gong, Abe Yee, and Adam. The authorities are investigating the matter under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, though no arrests have been made so far. Efforts are underway to track down those involved in these illegal activities.

The illegal acts are attributed to smugglers, including those involved in drug and contraband trafficking, and are intended to facilitate illegal cross-border movements. Mohd Yusoff emphasized that the installation of concertina wire is a key security measure to prevent smuggling and unauthorized movements in and out of the country.

The initial phase of the concertina wire installation covered approximately 1.5 kilometers from Rantau Panjang to Pangkalan Ibrahim Pencen. An application has been submitted to the National Security Council to extend the wire by an additional 2.5 kilometers in the area. "The application was submitted about three months ago, and we are still awaiting a decision," Mohd Yusoff said.
