Kuala Lumpur:Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong concluded his one-day working visit to Malaysia, departing on a Singapore-bound commercial flight at 6:35 pm from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1. He was seen off by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Deputy Secretary General (International Trade), Datuk Mastura Ahmad Mustafa.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the visit focused on strengthening economic ties and enhancing supply chain resilience between Singapore and Malaysia. Gan, who also holds the position of Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry, engaged in discussions with key Malaysian officials, including Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
Gan also attended a business luncheon hosted by the Malaysia-Singapore Business Council in Kuala Lumpur and co-chaired the Third Annual Ministerial Dialogue (AMD) with MITI. Further meetings included discussions with Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir in Putrajaya.
In 2025, Singapore was noted as Malaysia's second-largest trading partner globally and the largest within ASEAN, with bilateral trade amounting to RM402.8 billion. Singapore also emerged as Malaysia's largest source of foreign direct investment among ASEAN nations, contributing RM53.4 billion in investments.
