Shear line, ‘amihan’ to bring rain showers over parts of PH

MANILA: Some areas in the country, particularly across Luzon, will experience rain showers due to the shear line and northeast monsoon or "amihan", the weather bureau said Thursday. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line will prevail over Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Aklan, Capiz and Northern Samar. Amihan, on the other hand, will bring rain showers over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon. These areas could experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. Meanwhile, amihan will also cause light rain showers over the Cordillera Administrative Region and isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. Strong winds and rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas. Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA said. Source: Philippines News Agency
