Kuala Lumpur: National apit kanan (killer) Mohamad Azlan Alias is confirmed to have suffered a left elbow fracture following an incident during the team regu final of the 2025 Sepak Takraw Asian Cup at the Titiwangsa Stadium here on Sunday (May 18).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) confirmed that Mohamad Azlan is expected to be out for two months while he undergoes rehabilitation. The PSM stated in a brief media statement that the country’s main ‘killer’ received a comprehensive health check confirming the injury.
In the final match, Malaysia lost 2-0 to arch-rivals Thailand. Despite mistiming his landing and sustaining the injury in the first set, Mohamad Azlan continued to compete until the match concluded.
The first regu of Mohamad Azlan, tekong Mohammad Syahir Mohd Rosdi, and server Amirul Zazwan Azmi was narrowly defeated by their Thai opponents with scores of 11-15, 15-12, 15-17. The second Malaysian regu comprising Farhan Adam, Muhammad Haziq Hairul Nizam, and Muhammad Noraizat Mohd Nordin also succumbed to the Thai team with scores of 15-13, 13-15, 4-15.
