Sarawak Not Facing Coconut Milk Supply Issues for Ramadan and Aidilfitri: Fuziah

Kuching: Sarawak has no issues regarding the coconut milk supply for the month of Ramadan as well as Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations this year, said Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Dr. Fuziah Salleh.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Fuziah stated that there is active collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to resolve supply issues. However, she emphasized that in Sarawak, there is no issue with the supply of coconut milk and eggs. This announcement was made during a press conference following an Ops Kita Gempur operation conducted in the area.

Dr. Fuziah noted that while coconut milk and eggs remain unaffected, essential items such as onions and cooking oil packets are likely to face supply issues in Sarawak. In response, the Sarawak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has issued written notices to importers, wholesalers, and retailers. These notices pertain to three specific wet goods: yellow onions from China and Holland, big onions from India, and garlic.

The purpose of these notices is to gather information on the price of goods, costs, and the current selling price to prevent any party from making unreasonable profits. Dr. Fuziah mentioned that the notices were issued under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011. This action ensures that data is available to initiate an investigation should there be a sudden price increase in these goods.
