Sarawak Floods: 37 Victims Still At Relief Centre In Samarahan

Samarahan: A total of 37 people from nine families are still taking shelter at a temporary flood relief centre in Sarawak as of this morning. The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) has reported that the affected individuals, who are residents of Kampung Seruyuk, are currently accommodated at the Kampung Seruyuk old mosque building in the Samarahan Division. This facility was opened to provide refuge for the flood victims yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the number of evacuees has risen slightly from the previous day, when 25 victims from eight families were registered at the relief centre. This recent flooding incident represents the second wave of floods to hit Sarawak this month, occurring shortly after the waters from the previous flood had fully receded on January 17.

The JPBN continues to monitor the situation closely and is coordinating efforts to provide necessary assistance to those affected. The temporary relief centre remains operational to ensure the safety and well-being of the evacuees as they await the receding of floodwaters and a return to normalcy.
