RM1.7 Billion Boost for BSN’s Microfinance Initiatives in Budget 2027

Accra:Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) announced that the RM1.7 billion allocation in Budget 2027 will help address the financing needs of diverse target groups, reinforcing its role as a leading microfinance institution in Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, BSN's acting chief executive, Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid, stated that the allocation would benefit youth, gig workers, hawkers, and vulnerable communities. The effectiveness of these initiatives is measured by how they aid entrepreneurs in business growth, income increase, and achieving financial stability.

Mujibburrahman also highlighted the RM270 million financing allocation aimed at supporting gig workers in expanding their businesses and purchasing their first homes. He emphasized that this initiative offers gig workers opportunities to improve their livelihoods and build a secure financial future. BSN remains committed to providing financial solutions that meet the needs of these groups.

In its efforts to advance financial inclusion, BSN will utilize its extensive branch network, banking agents, and alternative banking channels, such as mobile banking, to make financial services more accessible, particularly to those in rural and remote areas. Mujibburrahman noted that financial inclusion involves more than access to banking services; it should make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

He added that ongoing collaboration between the government and financial institutions is crucial for translating Budget 2027 initiatives into broader economic opportunities, business growth, and improved well-being for Malaysians.
