Accra:The Malaysian government has announced the construction of new quarters at the Langkap Immigration Detention Depot in Perak and in Papar, Sabah as part of Budget 2027. This initiative aims to improve the welfare and operational readiness of Immigration Department personnel, enhancing their ability to carry out enforcement duties effectively.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban emphasized that the provision of more conducive residential facilities will not only improve the well-being of officers and their families but also enable them to concentrate fully on their responsibilities. He highlighted that the welfare of personnel is a crucial foundation for the effectiveness and readiness of enforcement organizations.

Zakaria also welcomed the announcement of the construction of a new Immigration Office in Keningau, Sabah. This development is expected to boost the department's capacity to provide more systematic and efficient services to the local community, aligning with public expectations for quality public services.
