Prasarana Strengthens Efforts for Disability-Friendly Public Transport

Kuala Lumpur:Prasarana Malaysia Berhad is enhancing its commitment to inclusive public transport by engaging with the persons with disabilities (PwD) community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative allows Prasarana to better understand the needs and challenges faced by users with disabilities, aiding in the improvement of accessibility and travel experiences.

Recently, Prasarana organized a familiarization session with representatives from Persatuan OKU Damai Malaysia, Malaysian Association for the Blind, and Malaysian Federation of the Deaf at the Light Rail Transit 3 Shah Alam Line. This session allowed PwD community representatives to experience the facilities firsthand, such as lifts, ramps, disabled-friendly toilets, tactile paving, and designated spaces for wheelchair users on trains.

Feedback from these sessions helps Prasarana identify areas for facility and service improvement. Additionally, the PwD community was introduced to the Multi-Purpose Caring Room at Pasar Seni Station, which serves as a breastfeeding room and a calm space for children with autism, with plans for expansion to other stations.

Prasarana's Pas Rapid Mesra initiative offers the PwD community unlimited free travel on rail, bus, and Rapid On-Demand services in the Klang Valley, under certain terms and conditions.

MFD representative Fakhrulrazzi shared his positive experience as a regular user of LRT and MRT services, highlighting the helpful directional signs at stations and the assistance provided by station officers.
