Police Officer Injured in Traffic Accident During Royal Convoy

Palekbang:Tumpat A traffic officer from Tumpat district was injured after being struck by a car while managing traffic at the Kepulau intersection in Palekbang.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident occurred at 1.25 pm as the officer was closing the road from Morak to Palekbang to allow the convoy of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, to pass. The convoy was en route to attend Friday prayers and a public event celebrating the Sultan's 57th birthday.

The Tumpat district police chief, ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie, reported that a Proton Saga, driven by a 55-year-old local woman, failed to notice the officer and collided with him. The officer sustained external injuries and was taken to Tumpat Hospital for outpatient care. The driver was unharmed.

The incident is under investigation according to Section 79(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities are seeking dashcam footage or other recordings to aid the investigation.

Mohd Khairi advised motorists to follow police instructions during traffic control and remain vigilant to prevent accidents, especially during special operations.
