Police Investigation to Determine Outcome of Assault Case Involving Rafizi’s Son

Putrajaya: The status of the investigation into the assault case involving the son of Pandan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, will be determined based on the progress of the police investigation, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He indicated that the classification of the case, whether it should be regarded as No Further Action (NFA) or otherwise, hinges on the findings and evidence collected during the investigation process.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin emphasized that the primary responsibility of the police is to conduct a thorough investigation following a report of an incident. The investigation will continue and evolve as new evidence comes to light. Saifuddin stated, “So whether the classification of the case will be included as an NFA or otherwise at this stage, I leave it entirely to the professionalism of the police force.”

Saifuddin further clarified that he does not intend to influence the investigation process or draw any definitive conclusions regarding the status of the police inquiry. He highlighted that intervening in the investigation could hinder the discovery of new evidence or causes by the police.

In addition, Saifuddin expressed his sympathy for the incident involving Rafizi’s son, who is 12 years old. “I have contacted him to ask him how he is, not only when the incident happened, but also afterwards and I leave it to the professionalism of the police force,” he stated.

Previously, media reports indicated that Rafizi planned to send a letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, addressing the case involving his son’s attack. Rafizi also expressed his intention to propose an NFA status, citing the lack of developments after six months since the incident occurred at a shopping mall in Putrajaya on August 13 last year.
