Police Detain 46 Foreigners in Kuala Lumpur Gambling Call Centre Raids

Kuala Lumpur:Police have arrested 46 foreigners suspected of running gambling call centres during raids at nine locations across the capital over the past two days.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that the special Op Dadu raids also led to the seizure of 24 laptops, 71 mobile phones, 10 modems, and RM23,000 in cash.

Preliminary investigations revealed that all 46 suspects confessed to participating in online gambling activities aimed at customers from China, South Korea, and the Philippines. The suspects had been involved in these illegal activities for periods ranging from one to three months, earning an average salary of between RM2,000 and RM3,500.

The suspects have been remanded for a period of between one and 14 days to assist with investigations under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Fadil urged the public to avoid all forms of gambling activities and to be cautious of scams utilizing call centre tactics. He advised that information on gambling activities and scams can be reported to the police via the Kuala Lumpur Hotline at 03-2115 9999 or by contacting the nearest police station.
