Police arrested three individuals and seized a firearm along with ammunition in a raid at a house near here yesterday evening.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jasin police chief Supt Lee Robert stated that the raid, conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department of the district police headquarters, took place at around 5.30 pm following a tip-off from the public.

During the operation, police detained two men, aged 54 and 45, and a 22-year-old woman. The authorities discovered a firearm and ammunition placed on a table beneath the garage of the house.

Further investigations revealed that the two men had prior criminal records, with three and seven offences respectively, involving both criminal and drug-related activities. The woman, however, had no previous criminal record.

The seized items included a brown shotgun, a shotgun handguard, and a cartridge belt. Additionally, police confiscated 10 white 12 -bore shotgun cartridges, alongside one 12-bore cartridge each in red, green, and brown colors, and a firearm case.

Lee added that the suspects have been remanded for three days until January 7, and the case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960.
