Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to embark on an official visit to Turkiye starting tomorrow, extending until January 8. This visit aims to bolster the longstanding bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkiye.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister's senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, announced that Anwar is scheduled to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two leaders will jointly chair the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting, emphasizing their shared commitment to enhancing strategic cooperation in a structured and comprehensive manner.
The visit will cover discussions on cooperation in fields such as trade, investment, defense, technology, education, and people-to-people relations. Anwar is also expected to deliver a public lecture and engage with the Turkish business community and the Malaysian diaspora.
In addition to official programs in Ankara, the visit to Istanbul will focus on strengthening economic cooperation through roundtable sessions with Turkish companies and media interactions to outline the direction of Malaysia-Turkiye relations.
Tunku Nashrul highlighted that the official visit underscores the MADANI Government's commitment to expanding strategic, pragmatic, and results-oriented international cooperation networks, rooted in the principles of Malaysia MADANI for the long-term benefit of the people and the country.
Addressing the nation's direction for 2026, Tunku Nashrul noted that the government will continue to enhance strategic communications to ensure that information is conveyed clearly, consistently, and factually to the public. This effort aims to facilitate public access to services and opportunities without confusion.
The year also marks the introduction of Visit Malaysia 2026, an initiative aimed at boosting tourism, driving the local economy, strengthening community ecosystems, and showcasing Malaysian hospitality as a premier regional destination. Tunku Nashrul expressed confidence that with strong resolve and support from the people, the MADANI Government will continue to deliver meaningful outcomes for the rakyat, based on ongoing reforms and administrative stability.
