Pharmaniaga Secures RM281.7 Million Health Ministry Contract for Insulin Supply

Kuala lumpur: Pharmaniaga Bhd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Pharmaniaga LifeScience Sdn Bhd (PLS), has been awarded a three-year contract worth RM281.7 million by the Ministry of Health to supply human insulin to healthcare facilities across Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the pharmaceutical company stated that this contract signifies Pharmaniaga's robust manufacturing capabilities and an established track record in executing large-scale projects. The award is also seen as a testament to the company's alignment with national healthcare priorities.

The contract, representing 70% of the total tender volume, highlights Pharmaniaga's readiness and capacity to meet extensive nationwide supply requirements. This agreement further solidifies the company's role as a significant contributor within Malaysia's pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem.

Pharmaniaga emphasized that the contract will bolster its recurring revenue stream within the public healthcare sector and improve its earnings visibility throughout the contract duration. The company also noted the contract's reinforcement of its expanding role in the biopharmaceutical segment, focusing on essential treatments for chronic diseases such as insulin.

Pharmaniaga's managing director, Datuk Zulkifli Jafar, expressed the company's honor in supporting the Health Ministry's healthcare objectives while enhancing its manufacturing and supply chain capabilities. He underscored that the contract aligns with the strategic goals outlined in their Vision ONE30 plan, which aims to advance biopharmaceutical capabilities, strengthen generics leadership, optimize logistics, and explore new growth avenues for sustainable development.

Zulkifli also noted the contract's timely nature amidst global geopolitical developments, highlighting the necessity for a self-reliant domestic pharmaceutical sector. He stressed the importance of enhancing local manufacturing capabilities, particularly for essential treatments like insulin, to ensure national medicine security and sustainable access for the population.
