Personal Issues Among Motives In IPTS Student Murder Case

Petaling jaya: Personal issues are believed to be among the motives behind the death of a foreign woman whose body was found with multiple injuries at a condominium in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, near here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar stated that preliminary investigations found that, besides emotional problems, financial issues related to daily expenses were also considered factors in the incident. "The suspect and the victim were students at the same private higher education institution (IPTS). They were believed to have been in a relationship and lived together. Investigations are still ongoing," he informed during a media conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters today.

Elaborating further, Shazeli noted that police believe no other suspects were involved in the incident, apart from the foreign man, in his 20s, who was apprehended at the scene yesterday. However, he added that they are not ruling out any possibilities until investigations are completed. Shazeli also mentioned that police have seized the suspected murder weapon used in the crime, and an autopsy would be conducted today.

Yesterday, a foreign woman, in her 20s, was found dead with multiple injuries on her body at a condominium in Bandar Sunway. Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Supt M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly reported they received information about the incident at around 11.03 am and arrested a foreign man, in his 20s, at the scene to assist in the investigation.

In a separate development, Shazeli remarked that investigations into a delivery rider related to the theft of a wallet at a supermarket in Semenyih have yet to be fully completed. He indicated that the Deputy Public Prosecutor had provided several instructions to finalize the investigation papers into the case, which has gained attention on social media. The media had previously reported that a delivery rider, detained to assist investigations into a wallet theft case at a supermarket in Semenyih, was released on police bail yesterday.
