Perlis Government Awards RM821,200 in Sports Incentives

Perlis:The Perlis government has distributed incentives totaling RM821,200 to the state's sports community, including coaches and athletes, in recognition of their achievements at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA in Selangor, as well as various international sporting competitions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, RM767,200 of the total was allocated to medal-winning athletes, coaches, sports associations, sports development officers, staff of the Perlis State Sports Council (MSNPs) and members of its management committee. An additional RM54,000 was awarded to winners at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, along with the 2026 Asian Games and Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah, speaking at the incentive presentation ceremony, emphasized that these incentives are a form of recognition for the effort, commitment, discipline, and sacrifices made by the entire sports community in bringing honor to Perlis at both the national and international levels. He highlighted that the success of a sports contingent was not solely due to the athletes' efforts but also the contributions of coaches, officials, management teams, sports associations, and the support of parents and family members.

Abu Bakar further encouraged athletes who had not yet achieved their targets to use their competition experiences as motivation to improve future performances, stating, "Let every success fuel your drive to go further, and let every challenge serve as an opportunity for self-improvement."

The state government hopes that Perlis' current sporting achievements will serve as a foundation for greater success in the future, nurturing athletes who excel in sports while demonstrating discipline, integrity, and a strong sense of identity.
