BN Relies on Performance to Sway Melaka Election Fence-Sitters

Melaka:Barisan Nasional (BN) is focusing on its track record in state administration over the past five years as a critical factor in appealing to undecided voters in the upcoming Melaka state election on November 14.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh emphasized that voters would evaluate the party based on its administrative capabilities and the effectiveness of policies and initiatives that benefit the public. Dr Ab Rauf highlighted that voters tend to consider the direction of a party they intend to mandate to govern, thus examining past achievements before making their choice.

Dr Ab Rauf, also the Chief Minister, noted that the state government has implemented programs such as the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR), Hari Exco Bertemu Rakyat, and Jelajah Ketua Menteri Sayang Rakyat to address and resolve community issues. These initiatives reflect the government's commitment to turning plans and policies into tangible benefits for the community.

He reported that through the WRUR programme, the government resolved approximately 75 percent of the 4,800 complaints received, showcasing efforts made well in advance of the election. Dr Ab Rauf stressed the importance of early action to avoid superficial promises during the campaign period and underscored the role of elected representatives as community servants.

Moreover, Dr Ab Rauf remarked on the importance of candidates being in tune with community needs, stating that representatives must listen to people's problems and convey them to him for policy formulation. He believes that BN's past efforts should serve as a benchmark for voters deciding on their mandate on polling day.

The Election Commission has scheduled November 14 as polling day for the Melaka elections, with early voting set for November 10.
