Penang Governor Pays Respects to Prime Minister’s Late Brother

Cheruk Tok Kun:Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib today paid his last respects to Idrus Ibrahim, the elder brother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, at the family residence here.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramli arrived with his wife, Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, at 11.15 am and was welcomed by Penang police chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng. They spent 30 minutes with Idrus' family, offering condolences to Anwar and his family.

In addition to Ramli, several prominent figures were present to pay their respects, including Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim, Penang Mufti Associate Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Sukki Othman, and various political leaders.

Idrus passed away in his sleep at his residence at 6.10 pm yesterday at the age of 83. His burial is scheduled for today at the Cheruk Tok Kun Bawah Muslim Cemetery following Friday prayers. Idrus was a former teacher and headmaster at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Permatang Bertam and SK Stowell. He is survived by his wife, four children, and ten grandchildren.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, arrived at the family residence at 11.05 am. He later escorted Ramli and Raja Noora Ashikin as they departed at 11.45 am.
