Kuala Lampur:The Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) is advocating for a RM15 million allocation in Budget 2027 to enhance the development of para sports, focusing on nurturing new talent and supporting national para sports associations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PCM President Datuk Seri Megat D. Shahriman Zaharudin highlighted the necessity of this allocation for continuous grassroots development and maintaining operations of national para sports associations, especially those without their own premises. The council had previously requested this funding and hopes for government reconsideration to implement systematic and sustainable development of para sports.
Megat D. Shahriman emphasized the importance of financial support in identifying and developing athletes capable of competing internationally while ensuring that para sports receive due attention. He stated that PCM is accountable and responsible, and thus seeks increased government focus on para sports.
