Valtteri Bottas Undertakes 300-Km Bicycle Journey from Malaysia to Singapore

Sepang:Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas has embarked on a unique journey, choosing to travel from Malaysia to Singapore by bicycle following the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bottas, a 37-year-old Finnish driver for the Cadillac F1 Team, began his ride shortly after the race concluded. He plans to cover over 300 kilometers in several days to reach Singapore in time for the Singapore GP 2026, scheduled from October 9 to 11.

Bottas shared on Instagram that his route includes gravel roads and less-traveled paths. His journey has taken him through areas such as Melaka and Johor, where he has encountered various challenges, including riding through oil palm plantations at night and spotting monkeys.

His progress is tracked on Strava, a fitness platform, which recorded his first stop in Port Dickson after covering 56.6 kilometers. Bottas then continued, covering 161.91 kilometers in over five hours, reaching Muar, Johor, as he heads towards Singapore.

Bottas has been seen cycling around Sepang before the Bahrain GP, familiarizing himself with the local roads. His decision to cycle follows a frustrating Bahrain GP, where he retired early after spinning into the gravel. The race was won by Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.
