Kuala lumpur: The success of Malaysia's education system depends not only on policies and funding but also on close cooperation between the government, parents, and educators, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. Reaffirming that education remains a national priority, Anwar emphasized that strong collaboration among all parties is essential to ensure children receive holistic support, both at school and at home.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated, 'By ensuring quality education grounded in values and humanity, we can produce a generation that is knowledgeable, ethical and resilient in facing future challenges,' in a Facebook post today. In the same post, Anwar shared details of his visit with his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Besi, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Kwong Hon, and SJKC Sungai Besi to monitor the distribution of the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP).
He said the BAP is a key government initiative to ease parents' financial burden in preparing their children for the new school year. Anwar noted that the visit also allowed him to meet and engage with pupils beginning their schooling journey. 'Their excitement reminds us that every child carries not only the hopes of parents, but also the trust of teachers and the aspirations of the nation's future,' he said, adding that schools play a vital role in shaping character, discipline, and identity.
From this year, the academic calendar for national and government-aided schools returns to a January start after changes made in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The school session for Group B states, comprising Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya began today, while Group A states of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu started yesterday.
