Cremona:Pahang: The state government of Pahang is enhancing its dairy buffalo industry by incorporating quality breeds and modern technology from Italy. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail announced this development following a visit to Rota Guido SRL in Cremona, Italy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the visit aimed to better understand the technology, management systems, and best practices that have advanced Italy's dairy buffalo industry. The focus areas included farm design, animal welfare, nutrition, waste management, milking technology, and milk handling systems.

The delegation explored how Italian approaches and technologies could be adapted to meet Pahang's specific climate and operational needs. This includes livestock management, technical services, and veterinary support. Wan Rosdy emphasized the importance of not just increasing the number of buffaloes but also improving breed quality, genetics, and management to boost productivity.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between AGK Dairy Fresh Sdn Bhd and Rota Guido SRL. This agreement focuses on breeding Italian Mediterranean dairy buffaloes in Bukit Kajang, Raub, and includes technical cooperation for livestock development.

Wan Rosdy highlighted that importing selected buffaloes from Italy would involve technical and veterinary cooperation, ensuring compliance with export requirements. The collaboration aims to enhance livestock productivity and milk production, creating new economic opportunities for local industry stakeholders. This strategy seeks to elevate Pahang's livestock sector by enhancing overall value, productivity, and competitiveness.
