Kuantan: The Pahang government is prepared to study the proposal for constructing a railway line in Cameron Highlands, assessing its potential impact on local residents and infrastructure development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail mentioned that no formal proposal has been submitted regarding the project. He emphasized that the government would consider the railway line if it offers convenience to the public and enhances infrastructure. He made these remarks at a press conference following the Presentation Ceremony of the Pahang Makmur Initiative (IM) to the West Pahang Zone Religious Cluster.
Rumors have been circulating about the proposed railway, which would connect Tanah Rata, Brinchang, and Blue Valley. It is expected to address the severe road congestion issues in this major tourist area.
During the event, Wan Rosdy highlighted the state government's allocation of RM6.97 million for 697 mosques and suraus for Friday prayers across Pahang this year. Earlier allocations were made to the Central and East Pahang Zones, and now the West Zone is receiving RM1.76 million for 176 mosques and suraus.
Wan Rosdy also indicated that the Pahang State Budget 2026 would continue the Pahang IM with a significantly increased allocation of RM84.59 million, compared to this year's RM50.54 million. This budget will cover four clusters: Student, Religious, B40, and General, with a total of 24 initiatives. Within the religious cluster, nine initiatives will be implemented next year, including financial contributions to mosques and suraus, a death benefit, and support for Pahang haj pilgrims.
In addition, Wan Rosdy expressed gratitude to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for their corporate responsibility, contributing RM15,000 to assist 150 students at Sekolah Kebangsaan Keledek.
