Kuala Lumpur:NovaAir Industrial Gases Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Yingde Gases Group Co Ltd, is targeting to increase the capacity utilisation of its Kuala Lumpur plant to over 90% within the next two years. The company is also planning to expand its investment in Malaysia over the coming three to five years with the goal of becoming one of the top three industrial gas suppliers in the country.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, NovaAir intends to leverage its Malaysian regional headquarters to explore opportunities in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, while maintaining a focus on operational efficiency, sustainability, and the development of local talent. The company recently inaugurated its 300-tonne-per-day liquid air separation unit (ASU) at UMW High-Value Manufacturing Park in Greater Kuala Lumpur. This unit is expected to bolster Malaysia's domestic supply of critical industrial gases and reinforce NovaAir's commitment to long-term investment in the region.
The facility, commissioned in August 2026, aims to meet the increasing demand for industrial gases in Malaysia's manufacturing sector and enhance Yingde Gases' influence in Southeast Asia. MIDA's CEO, Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, highlighted the importance of industrial gases for Malaysia's growth, noting that NovaAir's investment aligns with national initiatives like NIMP 2030 and the Chemical Industry Roadmap 2030.
Charlene Quek, NovaAir's general manager, expressed the company's intention to establish enduring partnerships with Malaysian businesses and support the country's industrial goals. The Kuala Lumpur liquid ASU, along with the Alliance Steel project, reflects NovaAir's confidence in and commitment to the Malaysian market.
The plant produces essential gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and high-purity oxygen for various downstream industries, including chemicals, electronics, oil and gas, food processing, steelmaking, and new-energy lithium battery production. Yingde Engineering, the group's engineering subsidiary, developed and manufactured the plant's proprietary air separation technology, which incorporates AI-driven control systems to enhance energy efficiency and minimize the carbon footprint.
