No VIPs or Politicians Linked to Zara Qairina Bullying Case, Says Investigator

Baku:The Coroner's Court was informed that no very important persons (VIPs), very very important persons (VVIPs), or politicians were connected through family ties to the five teenage girls involved in the bullying case of Zara Qairina.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Investigating Officer Inspector Wong Yew Zhung stated that investigations conducted by his team revealed no evidence linking any VIPs, VVIPs, or politicians to the incident. Lawyer Ahmad Fikry Jaafar Abdullah, representing four of the teenagers implicated, inquired if the investigations had uncovered any involvement from such individuals. Inspector Wong confirmed there was none, and similarly, no VIPs or VVIPs were found to have provided protection or influence to help the teenagers evade legal action.

Inspector Wong, the 83rd witness in the inquest, also noted that no police reports or evidence indicated that Zara Qairina had been murdered, injured by a blunt object, or bullied to the point of death. Medical examinations did not reveal any injuries of a criminal nature.

When questioned about the injuries Zara sustained, Inspector Wong confirmed they were consistent with a fall from a height, aligning with the findings of Queen Elizabeth Hospital forensic pathologist Dr. Jessie Hiu. Dr. Hiu's analysis indicated that Zara's legs took the first impact, with subsequent impacts affecting her body and head.

Inspector Wong also addressed the issue of a post-mortem. Although he had the authority to mandate a post-mortem if criminal elements were present, he found no such elements and hence did not insist on one. Zara's family had declined the option for a post-mortem.

Zara Qairina passed away at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on July 17, 2025, a day after being discovered unconscious near a drain at her school hostel.
