NGO-Private Sector Partnership Key to Building Values-Based Society, Says Ahmad Zahid

Kuala lumpur: Close cooperation between non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the private sector, and other institutions is the best model for building a society grounded in values and spiritual well-being, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He emphasized that dakwah and community development should be a collective effort, undertaken with mutual support.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed his appreciation for One World Muslimah, a respected dakwah NGO in Malaysia, noting that the presence of such organisations shows that dakwah is a shared mission rather than a monopolized effort. Speaking at the launch of the 'Doa Dari Hati' programme, he highlighted the collaboration between a hotel, a dakwah NGO, and corporate sponsors as a reflection of the true concept of a Madani ummah-a community that works together without suspicion.

Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, stressed that building a values-based society requires a long-term commitment beyond flashy programmes. He pointed out the importance of incorporating spiritual strength into community development approaches, particularly as society grapples with emotional pressures and modern life challenges.

He underscored the necessity of balancing worldly and spiritual matters in everyday life, stating that the knowledge shared in the programme should be absorbed by all, as knowledge is boundless. "Whether we are politicians, businesspeople, or professionals, what matters is maintaining a balance between the worldly and the spiritual," he said.

The 'Doa Dari Hati' programme featured local and international speakers, including Ustaz Muhammad Assad and Ustazah Dr Oki Setiana Dewi, and garnered support from various parties in their efforts to enhance spiritual engagement within the community.
