Sarikei:A new road connecting Sare to Jalan Sentubu/Bukit Kinyau, with an estimated cost of RM17 million, is set to reduce travel time to Sarikei town from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, announced that the 2.7-kilometre road will also serve as an alternative route to Sarikei Hospital, thereby alleviating congestion on the current route.
The project, funded by the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), is expected to be completed within 12 months. Of the total cost, approximately RM1.4 million has been allocated for land compensation to around 20 affected landowners.
Datuk Len Talif Salleh highlighted the benefits of the new road at the ground-breaking ceremony, noting the significant reduction in travel time for residents. Compensation cheques were also presented to the affected landowners during the event.
