New Mosque to Accommodate 1,500 Worshippers in Bukit Bintang

Bukit bintang: A new mosque with a capacity to accommodate more than 1,500 worshippers will be established in Bukit Bintang and is projected to be completed early next year, announced Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan. The mosque will replace the Outreach Oasis Bukit Bintang (OOBB) community center, which is currently used as a temporary Friday prayer surau.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the approval for the mosque's construction was granted by the Federal Territories Syariah Law Consultative Committee during a special meeting on June 8. Dr. Zulkifli mentioned that the mosque's design and construction plans have been finalized, with construction expected to begin shortly.

The construction project is a collaborative effort involving multiple entities, including the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), and several non-governmental organizations. Once completed, the new mosque will serve as the primary gathering place for congregants, while the OOBB community center will continue its dakwah activities.
