Kathmandu:Kuala Lumpur: Families of Malaysians missing after the Nepal flood disaster are beginning to accept the possibility of a tragic outcome as the Nepalese government considers ending search and rescue operations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the families were briefed today at Wisma Putra about the potential conclusion of the search and rescue phase. They were also informed about the expedited process for obtaining death certificates. S. Sankara, whose mother K. Kalaimathi is among the missing, mentioned that the operations are still ongoing, but a transition to recovery efforts is expected soon.

During the four-hour meeting, representatives from various agencies discussed search operations, DNA sample management, and legal documentation. The meeting included input from the National Disaster Management Agency, the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team, and several other bodies.

Adura Masood, waiting for news about her husband Dr. Mohd Padzil Daros, expressed that while there has been little development, she believes the rescue teams have done their best. Dr. Mohd Padzil was part of "Team Loe," who went missing near the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border during the disaster.

The missing group, traveling from Kathmandu to the Nepal-Tibet border, included members from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department. The flood, caused by an ice-rock avalanche, has resulted in over 1,450 deaths, leaving thousands unaccounted for. Today's meeting followed an initial engagement with the affected families on August 30.
