NAFAS Moves To Expedite Fertiliser Supply To MADA Padi Farmers

Alor setar: The National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) has launched an immediate operation to expedite the supply of Supplementary NPK Compound Fertiliser to 40,000 padi farmers affected by delays within the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, NAFAS general manager Muhammad Faris Arriffin said the initiative, carried out through its subsidiary Malaysian NPK Fertiliser Sdn Bhd (MNFSB), followed the government's decision to resolve the supply delay swiftly without disrupting padi planting activities.

NAFAS understands that Supplementary NPK Compound Fertiliser is a crucial input for padi farmers, and any delay could affect the smooth running of padi production activities. Recognising this responsibility, they have adopted an immediate and systematic approach to ensure the remaining supply reaches the affected farmers, he said in a statement.

Muhammad Faris stated that 14,000 metric tonnes (MT) of fertiliser had been prepared for phased distribution through 27 Area Farmers Organisations (PPK). Deliveries began today according to the established schedule, with an initial 600 MT distributed on the first day.

NAFAS will work closely with MADA, the PPKs, and other relevant parties to closely monitor the movement of supplies from stockists until the fertiliser reaches the farmers. The focus is not merely on delivering the fertiliser but on ensuring it reaches the farmers who need it. Every stage of the supply process will be monitored to ensure smooth implementation and compliance with the schedule.

NAFAS also assured that coordination with the PPKs and MADA would be strengthened throughout the distribution period to quickly identify operational issues and take corrective action without disrupting the receipt of supplies by padi farmers. This measure reflects NAFAS' commitment to being a solutions partner to the government and farming community, particularly in ensuring a robust strategic agricultural input supply chain and supporting the national food security agenda.
