Kuala lumpur: The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) has called for a comprehensive review of several dramas featuring sensual scenes and manipulative elements. The department urged relevant agencies to take necessary action to ensure these elements, presented as art or social awareness, adhere to established guidelines.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, acknowledged public concerns regarding the provocative nature of certain dramas. He highlighted that while the intention behind these productions might be to convey reality, the marketing approach can obscure the educational message intended for the audience.

Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the potential negative impact of explicit scenes circulating on social media, suggesting they could normalize detrimental behavior within society and adversely affect the emotional and moral development of teenagers. He urged the creative industry and media platforms to prioritize values and principles over commercial gains and viewership statistics.

The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical standards and maqasid syariah (objectives of Islamic law) in creative works. Dr. Zulkifli stated that efforts to educate society about harmful behavior should not compromise viewers' perceptions or ethical values.

He further announced that reviews based on the Guidelines for Screening of Islamic-Themed Content Materials (JAKIM No. 4/2015) would be reinforced in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and relevant agencies. This initiative aims to protect the sanctity of religion and ensure that art respects the boundaries set by Syariah. Dr. Zulkifli concluded by stating that every piece of art viewed by millions will ultimately be accountable before Allah.
