Perlis: The cloud seeding operation (OPA) in Perlis yesterday bore fruit, bringing rain to almost the entire state from last night until early this morning, and contributing to a rise in the water level at the Timah Tasoh Dam.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Perlis Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) director Amir Budiman Abdullah stated that the rainfall from 10 pm to 1 am helped raise the dam's water level from 27.00 meters to 27.15 meters. This marks the highest water level recorded since January and falls within the normal range.

Amir Budiman noted that the Kangar and Padang Besar parliamentary constituencies received more rainfall compared to Arau. Four areas, including Padang Besar, Ngulang, Kampung Bakau, and Kuala Perlis, experienced moderately heavy rain, while Tebing Tinggi witnessed heavier precipitation.

He emphasized that the rise in the dam's water level was a positive development following the previously dry weather conditions.

Yesterday, BERNAMA reported that the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) confirmed that the OPA aimed at increasing rainfall over targeted areas and catchments to help boost and maintain water levels at major dams.
