Kuala lumpur: The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) has announced that the early vote counting process for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, which took place yesterday, will commence at 5 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the EC made a statement on Facebook today, clarifying that an infographic poster circulating on social media, suggesting that Perikatan Nasional (PN) is leading the early vote count, is false. The post emphasized that the early vote counting process will only start after the completion of normal voting on the specified date.

The EC urged the public to rely on official announcements for accurate election results. They warned against spreading or believing misinformation, as it could disrupt the election process.

The early voting for the Negeri Sembilan state election involved 22,339 voters. Among these, 16,467 individuals voted physically, including 11,293 soldiers and their spouses, and 5,174 police personnel and their spouses. The remainder voted by post. The EC reported that 91.06 percent, equating to 14,995 early voters, participated, surpassing the 90 percent target set by the commission.

On Saturday, 867,151 ordinary voters are expected to fulfill their responsibility by electing new representatives.
