MyDigital ID Gains Major Boost as 29 Organisations Join Digital ID Partnership

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia's digital identity framework took a significant step forward today as 29 organisations entered formal partnerships with MyDigital ID, strengthening the country's push towards a secure and interoperable digital ecosystem, said MyDigital ID Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nik Hisham Nik Ibrahim. In his welcoming remarks at the 'Powering Trusted Access Across Malaysia's Digital Ecosystem' Forum and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Ceremony here today, Nik Hisham said the initiative reflects Malaysia's broader transition towards a digital-first future built on trust, security, and inclusivity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MoU ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil also in attendance. The MoU exchange ceremony involved, among others, CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) for federal and state government agencies, Yayasan MyKasih for the welfare ecosystem, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) for education, SOCAR Mobility Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SOCAR) for digital platforms, and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for technology enablers, to expand the use of MyDigital ID across key sectors.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the MyDigital ID Board Datuk Raja Nushirwan Zainal Abidin said a system does not become national infrastructure at the point of its introduction but becomes infrastructure when it is trusted, when it is relied upon, and when it is used without hesitation. He added that this is the direction in which MyDigital ID is steadily advancing.

Raja Nushirwan noted that MyDigital ID has surpassed 11 million Malaysians, adding that the figure itself is not the measure of success but rather the growing reliance on the platform, as it becomes embedded across more than 100 applications spanning government services, government-linked companies (GLCs), government-linked investment companies (GLICs), and private platforms.

He said login usage has nearly doubled, reflecting a 98.7 percent increase between the second half of last year and the first quarter of this year, describing it as a shift in behaviour rather than just growth in numbers supported by sustained nationwide engagement efforts to build trust and understanding.

He concluded that a calculated and deliberate effort was made to go beyond the system itself through more than a hundred on-ground engagements across the country to meet Malaysians where they are to explain, to listen, and when necessary, to reiterate because even in a digital environment trust remains inherently human and when it comes to identity, a degree of caution is not only expected but entirely appropriate, since trust is not presumed but earned.
