Kuala lumpur: MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative) is strengthening its role in developing the national creative industry by focusing on the commercialisation of works, intellectual property (IP) development, and expanding market access to help more practitioners build sustainable businesses. Its Chief Executive Officer, Zainol Haqim Zainol Rashid, explained that the approach aligns with the Ministry of Communications' aspirations and Malaysia's Orange Economy development agenda, emphasizing the growth of the creative industry as a key economic driver.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zainol Haqim highlighted that many local creative practitioners possess the talent and capability to produce quality works but face challenges in scaling their work into products and businesses that can compete and generate sustained income. He remarked that the main challenge is not the lack of talent or ideas, but the transformation of creativity into a sustainable business with high commercial value. MyCreative aims to be more than just a programme provider or financier; it seeks to be a catalyst for creative business growth by helping industry players transition from producing works to building sustainable and commercially valuable enterprises.
Zainol Haqim stated that MyCreative plans to expand its collaboration network with industry players, corporate companies, financial institutions, investors, and international strategic partners to create more growth opportunities for local creative enterprises. The success of initiatives will be measured by the long-term impact, such as business growth, job creation, successful investments, IP development, and business sustainability after receiving support.
The RIUH platform will be strengthened as a means to promote local creative products and talent while expanding market access and connecting industry players with the public and international partners. This includes exploring collaborations with creative festivals and cultural platforms in major ASEAN cities like Jakarta, Bangkok, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City before targeting global markets. An example of this is the RIUH Raya Baik-Baik at TRX, which, during this year's Aidilfitri celebrations, saw strong corporate collaboration and recorded total sales exceeding RM2 million.
Zainol Haqim mentioned that the RIUH Pi HAWANA Carnival in Penang served both as a promotional platform for local entrepreneurs and creative practitioners, and as an opportunity for MyCreative to engage with industry players to understand their challenges and needs better.
He also highlighted that MyCreative Ventures will help the creative industry leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), digital platforms, and the creator economy, to improve productivity, innovation, and expand global market access. AI is seen as an enabler that empowers creative practitioners by accelerating idea development, content production, and market analysis, ensuring that every programme introduced is relevant for today and prepares Malaysia's creative industry for future growth.
